Dino of the Month; Bella the Invictibellatrix amberina
The month's dinosaur of the month is the newly discovered Invictibellatrix Amberina
Although the fossil was discovered on the Isle of Wight over 100 years ago it wasn't until recently that it was identified as a brand new species of megaraptorans and the first of it's kind in Europe!
Here are some fun facts about Bella:
- Lived during the Early Cretaceous period over 120 million years ago
- Had a diet of small dinosaurs, mammals and lizards
- The first Megaraptor to have been discovered in Europe
- A much smaller relative of the Tyrannosaurs at just 3-4 metres long and 1.5 metres tall
- It used it s long claws to attack it's prey
As Bella is a new dinosaur she hasn't had a chance to introduce herself to Derek and Irene, but what do you think she gets up to?
